Children normally attend St James’ from the September following their fourth birthday to the end of the academic year in which they reach eleven years old.

We make every effort to make every stage of transition in the children’s education as stress-free as possible, starting by visiting children in their nurseries/ preschools in the summer term before they start. During the second half of that term, we arrange induction afternoons for parents and children, and then, in the September in which they start school, the class teacher and a teaching assistant visits you at home, so that you will be handing them over to an adult who has been welcomed into your home, rather than a stranger.

The formal process of applying for a place at our school starts during the Autumn term prior to the child’s entry into the Reception year. Information and application forms are available from the school office. Please contact the school for information about applying for a place outside this admission process.
