ICT Vision 2010 | Print |

We are keen to develop ICT in the school and become outstanding in our teaching of this vital subject.  In order to achieve this, we have developed a vision for ICT.  I’m grateful to the parents who contributed to this when it was published as a draft last autumn.  It is set out below.

ICT Vision Statement – Feb 2010

Imagine a place where children enjoy using their ever-growing skills and knowledge in ICT to enhance their learning across the curriculum.  Notice how they welcome advancements in technology and able to adapt their learning to embrace the challenge of an ever-changing world with its new ideas, challenges and resources.

Admire the range of high quality ICT resources provided to support and enhance the teaching and learning process.  Look around the classrooms and learning spaces where computers and other digital technologies are just as much part of the ‘learning toolkit’ of children as paints, scissors and reference books.

Sense the commitment of the whole school to preparing their children to flourish as lifelong learners in God’s world of tomorrow and see how they employ ICT to fulfil this ambition.

Appreciate the confidence with which all staff use computers and understand their potential to compliment teaching and reduce workload, particularly in the areas of assessment and reporting– a confidence that has come through carefully planned training, tailored to the needs of individuals.
Observe how office and clerical staff use ICT seamlessly to work in a streamlined and effective way.  Watch this extend to our communication with parents and families.

This is St James’ CEC School – a place committed to preparing its children with the knowledge and skills in ICT to equip them to enjoy and participate fully in life, both now and for whatever might come in the future.
